Frequently Asked Questions

Sale of software

Is it legal to buy secondary software?
The answer is yes. Within the EU and EEA, if someone buys a perpetual licence of software, they can transfer it to another person - without needing the copyright holder's (e.g. Microsoft's) permission. This is because the distribution rights have already been exhausted on the first sale.
Why is someone offering the same software so much cheaper?
There are vendors on the market who advertise the latest versions of Microsoft products at suspiciously low prices. In most cases, however, they don't sell the actual software, but only the activation keys - which is like buying just the key to the car, but not the car itself. Such purchases can expose you to serious legal problems and penalties, especially during an audit, because the key and invoice alone are not enough to prove legal ownership. With us, you always get the complete package, including legal certainty.
How do we know that the licenses are really legal?
The legitimacy of all secondary software is supported by appropriate documentation, which you will always receive upon purchase. This contains key information such as the origin of the licence, the licence number, the uninstallation declaration, etc. Such documents are proof that all legal requirements regarding the transfer of ownership have been met. Our company provides these documents automatically, so you can be sure that you are buying with complete transparency and in accordance with the law.
Do these licenses receive updates from the manufacturer?
Yeah. Secondary licenses have the same access to updates as new licenses - including security patches, bug fixes and enhancements. These updates are provided according to the official lifecycle of the specific product. Software purchased from us behaves identically to a new product directly from the manufacturer - including support and features.
Can your licenses handle an audit?

Software redemption

What software can you buy from us?
We mainly buy used Microsoft perpetual licenses such as Windows, Office, Windows Server, SQL Server and others. The licenses must be of EU origin and no longer in use.
Do I have to provide any documents for the redemption?
Yes. For legal redemption, the origin of the licence must be documented - invoice or delivery note, declaration of retirement and confirmation that the licence originates from the EU/EEA.
How does the buyout process work?
After sending a list of licenses and documentation, we will check their suitability, prepare a quotation and, upon agreement, prepare a purchase agreement. After signing and confirmation of removal of the licenses from your systems, payment will be made.

Hybrid solutions

Are the licenses used suitable for a hybrid environment?
Yeah. Used Microsoft licenses such as Windows Server, SQL Server or CALs (Client Access Licenses) can be fully deployed in a hybrid infrastructure - just follow the license terms.
Is it possible to combine Microsoft 365 in the cloud with used on-premise licenses?
Definitely. Businesses often use Microsoft 365 for email and collaboration while using Windows Server or Office licenses for servers and PCs, saving budget.
Why choose a hybrid solution with used licenses?
This is the ideal compromise between IT modernisation and cost optimisation. It allows you to take advantage of the cloud where it makes sense, while dramatically reducing expenses by using cheaper but legal licenses for on-premises infrastructure.

Software audit

Is the use of second-hand licences a risk in an audit?
No, if the licences were acquired legally, with complete documentation (e.g. invoice, decommissioning declaration, EU origin). If properly documented, used licences will pass the audit without any problems.
What documents will the auditor request?
These are usually licence keys, invoices, contracts, a summary of software installations and a compliance statement. For used licenses, proof of legal acquisition and decommissioning is important.
How to prepare for an audit?
It is recommended to keep a complete record of software and licenses, to perform regular internal checks and in case of uncertainty to use the pre-audit service (“software health check”) offered by our specialists.
